Co-op Health Safety & Environmental (HSE) Advisor Student
Position Summary:
Reporting to the Corporate HSE Manager, the HSE Co-op student provides active and on-going support and oversight to the HSE team to achieve safety goals & objectives and ensure a safe working environment.
Job Description:
- Address inquiries on HSE risks and opportunities
- Assist with maintenance and improvement of HSE documentation and ensure timely and accurate HSE record keeping
- Coordinate preparation for COR re-registration
- Contribute to HSE training and communication
- Participate in hazard identification and risk assessment
- Support personnel in understanding, applying and adhering to Safety Work Practices and Procedures.
- Participate in HSE inspections and corrective actions (while in the field)
- Liaise with Health Claims Coordinator to facilitate Return to Work Program, as required
- Assist with managing HSE incidents and near misses
- Other duties as assigned by HSE Management
Requirements:
- Registered Co-op student, currently enrolled in an Occupational Health and Safety program
- 1+ year(s) experience in a safety role is an asset, as well as some previous construction experience
- Working knowledge of Provincial Health & Safety legislation and standards
- Work respectfully and cooperatively with others; establish and maintain strong relationships with internal and external partners
- Proficient computer software skills (Microsoft Office)
- Excellent interpersonal skills in dealing with a wide range of individuals
- Effective written and oral communication skills required
- First Aid training preferred
