Co-op, Mechanical Coordinator Student, Head Office, Morriston, ON

NAC is seeking a Mechanical Coordinator Co-op Student for the spring 2021 placement. This position will be located at our Head Office in Morriston, ON (Hwy 6/Hwy 401).

Summary:

Reporting to the Mechanical Operations Manager, the successful candidate will interact with project site teams on a regular basis.  The ideal candidate will display strong knowledge mechanical processes and standards, purchasing and with a demonstrated proven ability to coordinate with suppliers and subcontractors.

Job Description: 

  • Effectively interact with other key NAC jobsite personnel working in a team environment
  • Planning and scheduling
  • Mechanical contract drawings and specification interpretation
  • Managing the contractor’s review of shop drawings and submittal’s to ensure compliance with contractual requirements
  • Liaise with design firms to coordinate constructability, questions (RFI process) and the coordination of extra work
  • Knowledge and use of project cost budgets including setting up and maintaining programs required to assist in ensuring that project budgets and forecasts are met
  • Procurement of construction materials, equipment and tools in accordance with head office support departments
  • All other duties, as assigned by your Project Manager

Requirements: 

  • Currently enrolled in a Mechanical Engineering Registered Co-op program
  • 1 year experience working in the construction industry is preferred
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft software such as, Excel, Word and Outlook
  • Ability to read construction drawings and specifications
  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal
  • Work effectively in a team environment and under high pressure
  • Ability to multi-task
  • High level of initiative and keen interest in technical problem solving
  • Able to work with minimal supervision and reliable
  • Willing to travel with NAC in Canada (in future) may present long term career opportunities
  • Valid WHMIS and Health and Safety Awareness Training for workers/supervisors certificates are required
