STRUCTURAL ENGINEER P.ENG. - Morriston, ON
Position Responsibilities:
- Work on multiple projects of small to large scale
- Interact with NAC’s Construction forces and Consultants
- Prepare design calculations, technical specifications, and engineering drawings for concrete, steel, masonry and wood building structures
- Interpret and use Geotechnical Reports information
- Work with team members in determining viable solutions for design issues
- Work to and meet project time lines and budgets
- Estimate engineering hours for small projects
- Coordinate design work with other project team members
- Preparation and review of technical reports, feasibility studies and project documentation to communicate findings and recommendations effectively.
- Participate in constructability reviews
- Participate in CAN Engineering quality assurance and quality control process
- Construction administration including site reviews and investigations
- Mentoring, coaching and training of less experienced professionals, as required
- Participate in design reviews and provide constructive feedback.
- Seek opportunities for continuous learning and professional growth
Qualifications:
- General knowledge and application of structural design codes, standards, and applicable building codes
- General understanding of foundation design (spread footings, mat foundations, building and equipment foundations)
- General understanding of concrete structure design (support structures for equipment)
- General knowledge of structural systems, means & methods of construction, and materials (support structures for equipment)
- General understanding of all phases of project document production and the relationship between drawings and specifications
- Ability to participate and collaborate in a project team setting and to engage in creative and critical thought
- General understanding of structural engineering concepts and ability to effectively communicate ideas to others
- Utilize computer-assisted engineering and design software for structural design to perform complex calculations and simulations to prepare engineering documents
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and AutoCAD
- Excellent oral and written communication skills

Education and Experience:
- Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Structural/Civil Engineering from an accredited University
- Practicing Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in good standing with PEO
- Minimum of 5 - 10 years of relevant experience in consulting engineering
