Project Coordinator Co-Op (Civil, Mechanical or Electrical) - New Westminster, BC

NAC is currently seeking a Project Coordinator Co-op (Civil, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering Program) to join our team. The successful candidate must be LOCAL to our Sapperton Pump Station Replacement project in New Westminster, BC (8 or 12 month placement preferred, commencing asap or in January, 2019)

Position Summary:

Reporting to the Project Manager, the Project Coordinator will be responsible for the coordination and details of the project’s contract management, documentation and reporting, making this role vital to the project management team.  Effective project coordination ensures that information is timely and clear and the progression of the construction work is uninterrupted.
Duties will include but are not limited to:

  • Effectively interact with other key NAC jobsite personnel working in a team environment 
  • Commissioning experience preferred and desire to expand knowledge and skills
  • Planning and scheduling  
  • Review contract drawings and specification interpretation  
  • Document control  
  • Coordinate the contractor’s review of shop drawings and submittals to ensure compliance with contractual requirements  
  • Liaise with design firms to assist in the coordination of constructability, questions (RFI process) and the coordination of additional work  
  • Assist with project cost budgets and maintain programs to meet projected forecasts   
  • Procurement of construction materials, equipment and tools in concurrence with head office support departments  
  • Coordination and instruction of all subcontractors under the direction of the Project Manager and/or Superintendent  
  • Participate in become knowledgeable with NAC'S Health & Safety policies and procedures, as per the roles and responsibilities within the HSE Manual. 

The successful Candidate Will Possess:

  • Currently enrolled in a Civil Mechanical or Electrical Engineering program  
  • Registered in an 8 or 12 month co-op program
  • Construction experience preferred
  • Strong working knowledge of AutoCad and Microsoft software such as Excel, Word and Outlook  
  • Eager to demonstrated knowledge in the heavy construction industry
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and positive attitude/ougoing personality
  • Excellent attention to detail, organizational and problem solving skills  
  • The ability to follow instruction and work with minimum supervision  
  • The ability to work overtime, as required
