About NAC

The NAC Difference

From our very early beginnings, we sought to be different. We aimed to become a leader in construction by creating an intimately engaged and invested workforce that cultivates deep and mutually beneficial relationships with our partners by understanding your needs and then finding clever, effective, and impactful solutions.

NAC's mission is to improve people's quality of life through smarter and more impactful construction.

Here are the 10 ways we deliver.

1. An alignment of goals and values.

We always begin our engagements by understanding your goals and aligning our plans accordingly. We believe in working collaboratively with our clients, gaining in-depth knowledge of each project, developing efficient delivery methods, improving engineering plans, and providing accurate estimates that align with your needs, budget, and timeline. Our extensive knowledge of operations, systems, and smart building practices enables us to offer insights and opportunities that others might miss, ensuring that we always build smarter and more efficiently.

2. A communicative and decisive partner.

We understand that our clients expect a partner who communicates openly and proactively. Our organizational structure is designed to promote transparency and streamline communication, allowing us to quickly respond to project demands and make decisions without the typical delays that can occur in non-employee-owned firms.

Our commitment is to ensure that our partners always clearly understand the plan, including what we’ll deliver, when we deliver it, and for what price. We also strive to keep our partners up-to-date on the status of their projects, and if issues arise, we take ownership of our role in any challenges and work hard to correct them. We believe in fostering positive, mutually beneficial relationships and taking a proactive, solutions-focused approach to projects.

3. A clear and transparent plan and estimate.

Our founders’ goal was to build a company that could be trusted to deliver what they promised when they promised it. Our roots in the lump-sum world have instilled in us a discipline to provide realistic and accurate estimates and reliable plans, ensuring we can confidently deliver what we propose without surprises. Regardless of the delivery method, we have transitioned this approach into all our projects. We provide clients and partners with transparency by openly communicating about budgets, plans, and options.

4. A multi-disciplinary, self-performing team under one roof.

We have a full-suite in-house engineering team and more than 500 certified tradespeople across Canada who specialize in a variety of fields, including millwrights, ironworkers, welders, pipefitters, plumbers, electricians, equipment operators, carpenters, concrete workers, labourers, instrumentation technicians, and commissioning technicians. Because of this, we understand all of the components of a construction project and work together to provide the right expertise, resources, and talent to complete it.

Our integrated approach ensures seamless coordination between all trades, eliminating jurisdictional disputes common in the industry thanks to CLAC labour agreements. These agreements facilitate blended crews and cross-trade applications, enhancing our workforce’s versatility and adaptability while guaranteeing 100% name hire. This allows us to re-hire core employees and supervisors, maintaining consistency and quality throughout the project.

9. A desire to maximize our positive impact on people and communities.

We always strive to minimize business disruptions during construction while maximizing our positive environmental and community impact. An example of our commitment to ESG, as leaders in water and wastewater treatment plant construction, we see our role as ensuring that communities across Canada have access to clean water, one of our most essential and valuable assets. Our systems remove pollutants and mitigate the spread of disease, protecting natural habitats from pollution. This process is critical as about 75% of municipal and industrial wastewater ends up in rivers and streams, highlighting the importance of treatment in preserving aquatic ecosystems. Adequate water and wastewater management is indispensable for communities' health, safety, and environmental sustainability.

At NAC, we believe in considering the environment, sustainability, social, economic, and underserved community impacts while making recommendations, plans, or building any construction project. Our mission is to improve people's quality of life through impactful construction.
