Construction Surveyor/Civil Coordinator - North Vancouver, B.C
Position Summary:
Reporting to the Project Manager, the Construction Surveyor/Civil Coordinator will provide field surveying support and project coordination services to the project management team and Head Office departments.
Duties will include but are not limited to:
- Field surveying using Trimble GPS and Total Station
- Layout, control and reading/interpreting as-built drawings
- Plan and conduct ground surveys designed to establish baselines, elevations and other geodetic measurements
- Verify accuracy of survey data, including measurements and calculations conducted at site
- Calculate heights, depts., relative positions, property lines and other characteristics of terrain
- Prepare and maintain sketches, maps, data, plots, reports, records and documents related to surveys
- Effectively interact with other key NAC jobsite personnel working in a team environment
- Planning and scheduling
- Contract drawings and specification interpretation
- Document control
- Coordinate the contractor’s review of shop drawings and submittals to ensure compliance with contractual requirements
- Liaise with design firms to assist in the coordination of constructability, questions (RFI process) and the coordination of additional work
- Assist with project cost budgets and maintain programs to meet projected forecasts
- Coordination and instruction of all subcontractors under the direction of the Project Manager and/or Superintendent
- Participate in become knowledgeable with NAC'S Health & Safety policies and procedures, as per the roles and responsibilities within the HSE Manual.
The successful Candidate Will Possess:
- Construction related formal education program – civil/structural/geotechnical degree/diploma or an equivalent combination of technical training & experience
- A minimum of 2 years of construction surveying experience using Trimble GPS and Total Station and possess strong project coordination skills
- Must be well versed in interpreting civil and structural drawings and proficient in layouts
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft software such as Excel, Word and Outlook
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent attention to detail, a high level of accuracy and organizational skills
- The ability to work with minimum supervision
- The ability to travel with NAC within Canada
- The ability to work overtime, as required
- Valid WHMIS, Health and Safety Awareness Training for Workers and Fall Arrest certificates are required
