Mechanical Estimator - Morriston, ON
Position Summary:
Reporting to the Head of Mechanical Estimating, the successful candidate will interact with mechanical, electrical and civil estimators on a regular basis. The ideal candidate will display knowledge of the tender process, with a demonstrated proven ability to coordinate with suppliers and subcontractors. Individuals with experience estimating process piping and equipment for water and wastewater, stainless steel piping and design build projects are encouraged to apply.
Job Description:
- Complete takeoffs of the entire bid consisting of all material, equipment, labour, subcontractor and divisional general conditions completely filled in with correct pricing in a timely fashion.
- Review and solicit material and equipment prices
- Review all tender documents and prepare comprehensive notes that summarize and extract in bullet point format, everything necessary for a complete bid.
- Preparation of estimates and spreadsheets.
- Review and understand all aspects of the tender documents and compile tender questions to the client in a clear and concise format.
- Discover and track all aspects of risk within the tender documents for discussion with the Senior Estimator or Estimating Manager.
- Prepare for, communicate and interact effectively during coordination meetings in transferring or acquiring all overlapping scope or risk items of the work.
- Prepare and navigate through all estimating support software and to rapidly understand and analyze quotes for missing scope to minimize risk to the company.

Requirements:
- The successful candidate will possess experience estimating Water & Wastewater equipment, process piping systems, design build projects, or have mechanical trade experience in the heavy construction industry.
- Proficiency in Microsoft applications (Excel, Word and Outlook).
- Proficient reading mechanical shop drawings and specifications.
- Thorough attention to detail.
- Motivation and the ability to work to deadlines.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
