The Golden Ears Pump Station and Storage Tank is one of the projects that will support the upcoming Northwest Langley Wastewater Treatment Plant expansion. The new pump station will replace the existing Katzie Pump Station and help move wastewater from Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows to the Annacis Island Waste Water Treatment Plant, and eventually to the upgraded treatment plant in Langley. When complete, the new storage tank, with a capacity of 22,000m3, will temporarily store wastewater to prevent overflows during storms. The project includes many unique architectural features, including a green roof system, composite cladding, large feature windows on the pump station facade, vertical precast concrete fins suspended from the concrete walls around the pump station and SSO tank, and public art by a First Nations artist on the fins on the south wall of the SSO tank.
