Brooks NRSC Regional Water Treatment Plant

The Brooks Water Treatment Plant project encompassed the upgrading and capacity expansion of an existing water treatment plant in two phases. The existing plant capacity needed expansion from currently servicing solely the City of Brooks to a central facility picking up other surrounding communities within the Region of Newell.

Construction required maintaining continuous operation of the existing sand filter system to allow phase one expansion & construction of a new pre-eng building to house the owner-purchased PALL membrane filtration system above the existing plant reservoir along with all associated pumps, piping, chemical, electrical and control systems plus the construction of a new reject water tank adjacent the existing reservoir.

Following commissioning of the new PALL system phase two of the work consisted of demo and removal of the old sand filter system, steel tanks, walkways, and associated mechanical & electrical to allow construction of four new concrete tanks to accommodate pre-treatment in advance of PALL filtration.

The work also involved some retrofitting to an existing pump station 12 km’s away including new pumps, piping and electrical plus re-installation of an old generator.
