NAC performed several contracts for Detour Gold in the difficult and northern climate of Cochrane, ON.
The earthworks scope of work included:
Plant and crusher area site dewatering, including pumping of water and, as required, excavation of temporary drainage trenches and sedimentation ponds, loading, hauling, and disposal of non-reusable materials to the Waste Organic and Overburden Stockpile
Grubbing, including removal of bushes, brush, tree-stumps, in-situ waste and organic material, including hauling for disposal to the Waste Organic and Overburden Stockpile
Excavation of native soils (except for peat), including loading and hauling to the crusher site area for reutilization. Peat disposal shall be at the Waste Organic and Overburden Stockpile
Drilling and blasting of rock to the theoretical lines indicated on the drawings, including submittal of blasting schedule
Rock excavation (mucking), including hauling of excavated material and reutilization within the plant site area
Loading, hauling, placing, and compaction of borrow processed material (from RT Structural Backfill Borrow Pit) and plant site excavated soils deemed acceptable for reuse to underside of foundation levels and sub-grade levels, including sub-grade preparation and compaction.
NAC was also responsible for:
All mill concrete work including reinforcing steel, form work, anchor rods (bolts), grating covers, hand rails, embedded steel items, and floor drain
Pouring of reinforced concrete, including placement, pumping, vibrating and curing; installation of electrical grounding grid system
Supply, driving and welding of steel caissons, placement of rebar and pouring of concrete fill
Supply and installation of reinforcing steel
Supply and installation of accessories such as water-stops, joint sealants, rock anchors, anchor bolts, embedded parts, grating covers, checkered plate covers, embedded steel pieces, installation of Buried Corrugated Metal Structures (BCMS Tunnels), and waterproof membrane around the BCMS tunnels
Supply and installation of waterproof membrane on the first 12 m of the crusher building foundation walls
Supply and installation of geomembrane under leach tanks containment area, wall and sump pit.
