291 - Jericho Reservoir Phase I

Jericho Reservoir Phase I

The Jericho Reservoir Phase 1 work consisted of the supply, installation, construction, testing and commissioning for the construction of a new aboveground 20.6ML reservoir and valve chamber.

The project scope included earthworks, shoring, extensive concrete work, process equipment, controls and commissioning. The reservoir project also involved live tie-ins to existing regional water mains, with significant constraints on some of the tie-in work pertaining to duration, season, and time of the day.

The key components of the work were:

  • Assisting the Corporation of Metro Vancouver in acquiring a building permit from the Township of Langley
  • Construction of a dual cell, 20.6ML reinforced concrete potable water reservoir, and main valve control chamber
  • Construction of an external below-ground precast valve chamber
  • Construction of overflow piping and berm
  • Supply, fabrication and installation of process piping, plumbing, valves, and appurtenances
  • Supply and installation of electrical systems (including power supply and standby power generator)
  • Instrumentation and control systems
  • Supply, fabrication and installation of heating and ventilation systems
  • Construction of a site drainage system and driveway
  • Planting of trees, landscaping and construction of a pond and water feature
  • Modifications at the Barnston Island watermain
  • Construction of Township of Langley provisional items
  • Commissioning and testing;
  • Restoration and clean-up.

The Jericho project also involved significant coordination issues amongst the project stakeholders including the construction of access roads, pedestrian and traffic control, noise and dust control, and compliance with specific client safety requirements.
