Arbutus Water Treatment Plant Phase II
As the General Contractor, NAC successfully undertook the expansion and comprehensive upgrade of the existing Arbutus Water Treatment Plant in Ladysmith, BC.
The project began with site preparation, including clearing, grubbing, and blasting. Our team constructed a new water treatment facility, integrating the existing chlorination unit, and a reinforced concrete residuals handling facility. We also installed around 2km of sanitary and fibre-optic lines and managed final grading and landscaping.
The new facility comprises an assortment of works, including concrete, pre-engineered and structural steel building, HVAC mechanical, and electrical service installations. We ensured the procurement, delivery, and installation of all necessary equipment for seamless integration and successful start-up of the facility.
Major equipment that we installed includes a Dissolved Air Flotation system (DAF), Membrane treatment system, PACl dosing system, and a Soda Ash dosing system. Notably, the project saw the successful incorporation of equipment supplied by Suez Water Technologies via a novated contract.
Further, the project was thoughtfully designed with future expansions in mind, including additional process equipment and upgrades to the residuals management system. As part of our commitment, we also ensured the safe salvage of specific existing equipment for the Owner.
Finally, our team undertook the responsibility of commissioning the upgraded facility and training the existing plant staff.
