Lakeview Water Treatment Plant Upgrades

The Lakeview WTP Upgrade project included the rehabilitation of sixteen (16) conventional filters in the existing 400 ML/d conventional plant, including new underdrains and filter box rehabilitation for 15 filters, new media, piping, valves, sluice gates, instruments, power and controls for 16 filters, and the replacement of a remote IO (RIO) panel in the conventional plant blower room.

The project also included the construction of site access roadways, installation of fences, hoarding, gates, and excavation including trucking and disposal of surplus soil, removal of salt impacted soil and rock, installation of shoring system and dewatering, demolition and removals (architectural, structural, mechanical, process, instrumentation, electrical) and temporary utilities such as pumping, heating and ventilation.

In addition, the project involved the removal and installation of a new roofing membrane over the flocculation and sedimentation units nos. 1 to 3, upgrades to the existing process waste treatment facility, concrete refurbishment, new monorail, replacement of all lights, new pipes, valves, instruments and new control panels with new control wiring, installation of all yard piping, and installation of a temporary 1800mm diameter reservoir bypass pipe.

A new 400 ML/d conventional ultraviolet (UV) building was also constructed, including the installation of pre-purchased ultraviolet (UV) disinfection equipment, installation of miscellaneous process piping, valves, plumbing, ventilation, electrical and controls.

The project also involved miscellaneous architectural and structural works, removal of the 1800mm bypass piping and installation of blind flanges after successful commissioning of the UV Building, including backfill and site grading.
