Lemieux Island Water Purification Plant Filter Expansion
The work at Lemieux Island consisted of expanding the existing 12-cell filter gallery and significantly retrofitting the existing facility, which involved numerous tie-ins and shutdowns.
The scope included:
- Six new filter cells and gallery extension over the existing south reservoir
- Extensive concrete refurbishing and baffle installations within each reservoir
- Sequenced retrofit to the existing floc tanks, including baffle installations
- A new blower building, new flow metering chambers
- New sections of CPP piping requiring multiple tie-ins completely redirecting process flow for the facility
- Installation of new low-lift pumps, including refurbishment of existing pumps
- Plus the complete sequenced overhaul of electrical distribution and PLC systems all while keeping the entire facility in continuous operation.
