Melfort Water Treatment Plant Upgrades & Expansion
The Melfort Water Treatment Plant Expansion and Upgrades Project was a NAC-lead design-build project in partnership with MPE Engineering and SaskWater.
The project accomplished improved operational efficiency, optimized plant capacity and existing assets, improved water quality safety, and improved maintenance capabilities of the existing water treatment plant of Codette Lake Potable Water Supply System in Melfort, Saskatchewan.
The Design-Build Team provided a cost-effective, long-term solution to refurbish the original water treatment plant including upgrades to the building structure, retrofitting an inactive treatment process, including electrical, mechanical, instrumentation and controls as well as the installation of an auxiliary power without impeding operations and service reliability of the SaskWater facility.
Specific works included:
- Demolition of affected portions of the old water treatment plant
- Construction and/or retrofitting of treatment equipment including clarification/flocculation units, multimedia gravity filters, chemical feed equipment, and all related appurtenances
- Upgraded works that included all related civil, structural, architectural, mechanical, electrical and instrumentation works including installation of owner-supplier emergency generator equipment
