Nexen Long Lake SAGD DRU Project
NAC’s work at the Nexen Long Lake SAGD DRU project was a significant accomplishment given the 125,000 man-hours completed without injury in an operating heavy industrial complex. Project safety and scheduling in this environment were significant challenges, but working together with the client, NAC was able to accomplish this project successfully.
The scope of work for the Nexen site included all underground HDPE firewater lines (involving live taps), HV duct banks, grounding grid, curbs, protective coatings, CFA piles, helical piles, concrete pile caps and concrete paving.
Significant load testing was performed for both the CFA and helical piles.
NAC’s overall performance was rewarded by this client with the addition of a significant amount of added scope of work including the addition of a new corridor between two existing administration buildings, additional helical piles and an new elevator structural steel shaft.
In 2015, the project was suspended due to funding constraints and the downturn in the global oil markets.
