Peterborough Water Treatment Plant Expansion
The Peterborough Water Treatment Plant Expansion Project included excavation, dewatering, and subsurface preparation for the construction of in-ground chlorine tanks and a treated water reservoir complete with by-pass chambers, effluent piping, and isolation valves.
The scope of work for this project also called for relocating existing chemical pipes and connecting the new facilities to the existing in-service water treatment plant.
Key highlights of this project include the construction of the new underground tanks in close proximity to the existing in-service plant and the requirement to work in a well-populated area near the Peterborough Zoo, a highly popular local tourist attraction.
Throughout construction, multiple tie-ins to the existing plant were completed within tight time constraints.
