The Tofino Wastewater Treatment Plant is now online

The Tofino Wastewater Treatment Plant is now online! The 4 new pump stations are in operation and the new marine outfall is in full service.

The District of Tofino celebrated the official opening of the plant on August 22, 2024. After decades of releasing untreated sanitary sewage directly to the Pacific Ocean, the wastewater is being treated per regulatory requirement and is no longer impacting the beautiful marine ecosystem of Clayoquot Sound and Tofino’s beaches. A huge thank you to all of our self-performing tradespeople, staff, subcontractors, vendors and suppliers for the successful delivery of this important project. Well done everyone!
